Fall Inspired Miso Tamari Roasted Almonds

Jumping into fall recipes with this fun twist on classic roasted almonds!

Miso Tamari Almonds

With fall recipes all around us, I wanted to hop on the bandwagon but with a twist. I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of plain nuts like almonds or cashews. However, a friend introduced me to a variation of roasted almonds roasted almonds. I knew immediately that this needed to be on my list of fall recipes. That is how Miso Tamari Roasted Almonds came to be. If you were never a big mixed nut fan yourself, give this recipe a try and you may just fall in love.

Miso Tamari Roasted Almonds 

-2 cups raw almonds 

-2 Tbsp Tamari 

-.5 tsp sesame oil 

-1 TBSP white miso paste 

-3 Tbsp Brown Sugar

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Toast the Almonds

First, preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Place the raw almonds on a lined baking tray and spread evenly. Toast in the oven for 10 minutes. Then stir and place back in the oven for another 10 minutes or until golden brown. Be careful not to let them burn.

Step 2: Make the Miso-Tamari Mixture

Next, set the almonds aside. In the meantime mix together the tamari, sesame oil, miso paste and brown sugar, stir until well combined.

Step 3: Coat and Bake Again

Then, pour the almonds into the tamari miso mixture and stir until the almonds are fully coated. Pour back onto the baking tray and place back in the oven, reduce heat to 200 degrees F and cook for an additional 10 minutes. 

Step 4: Cool Before Serving

Finally, remove from the oven and let them cool to room temperature before enjoying.

Tips for Perfect Roasted Amonds

  • Line your pan. Use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat while baking. This will make sure your almonds do not stick to the pan as the sugar caramelizes in the oven. 
  • Keep an eye on the oven. Since sugar and oil are involved, the almonds can burn quickly. Stay nearby and save your chores for later.  great if they burn.
  • Feel free to adjust this recipe to your taste buds. Some people will want them sweeter or more tamari etc. Roasted nuts are versatile and you really can add anything your heart desires to this recipe, have some fun!
