Rosé Wine with Edible Rose Petals
Written by Dietitian & Mom: Elis Halenko
A summer sip that’s as stunning as it is simple.
Sometimes, all you need to elevate a moment is a good glass of rosé—and some edible flowers. This recipe isn’t really a recipe at all, but rather a ritual for slowing down and sipping something pretty. Whether you’re hosting a girls’ night, celebrating something sweet, or just romanticizing your Tuesday, this Rosé Wine with Edible Rose Petals is the perfect pink moment.
It’s light, floral, and almost too pretty to drink—but don’t let that stop you. 😉
Why You’ll Love This Drink
- It’s elegant but effortless
- Perfect for brunches, date nights, or hosting
- Can be served still or sparkling
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 1 bottle of dry rosé wine (look for notes of strawberry, citrus, or floral)
- 1 tsp rosewater (optional)
- 2 tbsp edible dried rose petals
- Ice cubes or frozen grapes, if serving chilled
Optional Add-ins:
- Fresh raspberries or strawberries
- Sparkling water or Prosecco (to stretch into a spritz)
- Simple syrup or honey (if you prefer a touch sweeter)
Instructions:
1. Chill Your Wine
Place your bottle of rosé in the fridge at least 2–3 hours ahead, or chill quickly with an ice bath. You want it crisp and cold.
2. Add Floral Vibes
In a carafe or pitcher, gently stir in 1–2 tsp of rosewater (start small and taste). Add a generous pinch of edible rose petals. Let infuse for 5–10 minutes before serving. You can also rim glasses with petals for extra flair.
3. Pour + Garnish
Pour into wine glasses over ice (or frozen berries). Top with a few more petals just before serving. Add fresh fruit or a splash of sparkling water if desired.
Dietitian Notes
🍷 Moderation = enjoyment. Wine, especially a lighter-bodied rosé, can absolutely be part of a balanced lifestyle. When enjoyed slowly, intentionally, and ideally paired with food and community, it can add joy and connection to your meals—both key to long-term wellness.
🌸 Edible rose petals are more than just pretty. They contain natural antioxidants and polyphenols (think anti-inflammatory benefits), and rosewater has been used traditionally to support digestion and calm the nervous system.
🧠 Pair it with fiber + fat. If you’re sipping, consider pairing your drink with something like a crostini with hummus or olives, or a small charcuterie board. The fiber and fat help stabilize blood sugar and make the experience feel more complete and satisfying.
👶 Kid-friendly mocktail idea: Mix sparkling water with a splash of pink lemonade or white grape juice, a drop of rosewater, and top with berries and petals. Fun, pretty, and inclusive for all ages!
